ONCOLOGY MASSAGE

ONCOLOGY MASSAGE

Oncology massage is a specialised form of patient-centred therapeutic touch tailored for the individual at any stage of their cancer treatment. Massage has physical stress relieving properties. Through stimulation of the vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system, it promotes rest and supports the body's ability to heal. Insomnia is a common issue during cancer treatment, both as a result of stress and as a side-effect of drug treatment. A trained practitioner will understand and respect the vulnerabilities of each client, select the appropriate therapeutic technique to ensure treatment is safe and beneficial. Massage can be a powerful restorative intervention during cancer treatment as it helps the body relax, aids emotional wellbeing and helps support the immune system.

Alice and Agur are both qualified as oncology massage therapists. Their techniques support scar tissue healing and avoid fibrosis and thickening after surgery. Cancer can be emotionally and physically a challenging experience, having to cope with feelings of uncertainty and anxiety. Alice and Agur offer support to cancer survivors and through years of experience, have developed a holistic, whole-body treatment approach. Massage is an important complementary therapy during cancer treatment as it helps the body and mind to restore, heal, rest and relax.

The Mbodied approach supports optimal breathing, better movement, restores range of motion, promotes mental and physical strength and most importantly, nurtures a sense of wellbeing.
Alice and Agur are also certified Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialists
under the Pink Ribbon Programme.
