PILATES MATWORK

The Pilates matwork classes we teach at Mbodied draw on our teachers’ many  years of experience in the teaching and understanding of the body in movement.

Pilates Matwork is a full-body workout based on a series of mat-based exercises devised by Joseph Pilates using your own body weight and occasionally small equipment. Pilates develops stability, mobility, strength and length throughout the whole body. It improves posture and function and provides a healthy foundation for movement. Our classes are fun, varied, friendly and dynamic.

We offer intermediate level classes and general level classes.

We always teach placing the client at the centre of what we do. We therefore always ask that you contact us first before signing up to a class. This is to ensure that we can direct you to the most appropriate class and keep you safe while meeting your needs.  Please contact us for details.

Face 5.jpg
FACE EXCERCISE

We exercise and are aware of the muscles of our body but often neglect the face despite this being the most expressive part of our body and the part that we present to the world.

Our teachers are trained in the Glowin Face Yoga method which is a carefully balanced sequence of exercises which release tension and tone the face.

We work with detailed knowledge of the anatomy of the head, neck and jaw: creating awareness of habitual upper back, neck and facial postures allows for the possibility of change. Expression lines can be reduced, facial and head posture improved to allow us to embrace aging gracefully, as well as relieve jaw pain, migraines and headaches.

There are two ways to compete the first step to facial

exercises:

  1. To join a group course. You must complete this course before joining the online face homework classes.

  2. To have a series of individual sessions after which you are welcome to join the homework classes. Please email alice@mbodied.co.uk for details.

barre (2).jpg
GARUDA BARRE

This contemporary barre workout incorporates element of ballet, yoga, and Pilates. It is a movement that exercises all muscle groups but has a special focus on developing the flexibility and agility of the body. Here balance and strength work side by side to create a sense of length and flow.

Garuda Barre captures the physicality and grace of dance, where rhythm and flow are paramount. Adagio (slow but expressive movement) and allegro (fast-paced and bright movement) are the two aspects of movement quality that are constantly introduced throughout this exercise.

This movement incorporates the use of a stationary barre where movements are performed, but can also incorporate different strength bands to widen the repertoire and make the movements more versatile for the practitioner.

Garuda Barre is ideal for those clients who wish to work out their whole body every time they exercise.
